Naogaon is a city called Naogaon. Former Naogaon thanas and subdivisions are named after the town of Naogaon and now Naogaon upazila and district. Naogaon has changed its name to Naogaon, consisting of nine adjoining chalks or settlements. Naogaon district is bounded on the east by Joypurhat and Bogra districts, on the west by Chapainawabganj district and Maldaha district of West Bengal, India, on the north by South Dinajpur district of India, on the south by Rajshahi and Natore districts.
Naogaon district is part of the Barind region, the topography is very diverse. Somewhere there are beels, reservoirs, low lands, and somewhere there is a barren earthy barren land with gray reddish color, which has been turned into a fertile grain store by the waters of Atrai, Chhota Jamuna and other small rivers.Naogaon is a food surplus district. Area of the district is 3449 sq km, population is 3143504 people, number of upazilas is 11, municipality is 3, union is 99. The total land area of the district is 34726 hectares. The amount of cultivable and irrigable land is 260300 hectare and 2216 hectare respectively.In the boro season of 2019, 845575 MT of boro production (in the form of rice) has been produced in 16275 hectares of land in this district.
The surplus food grains are supplied to other parts of the country to meet the food needs of the people of the district.There are 19 LSDs of food department in Naogaon district with total capacity of 40250 MT. At present the general usable capacity of LSDs is 40250 MT and maximum capacity is 51025 MT. There are 1081 licensed rice mills in Naogaon district.The fortnightly pruning capacity of renewed licensed mills is 198225 MT. In fact, most of the rice collected in this district is sent out of the district.
